Your little ones will absolutely love the delicious chocolate flavor in these 3-ingredient banana brownies, and you'll love how quickly they come together! Made with just mashed bananas, cocoa powder, and peanut butter, you'll have a healthy treat in less than 30 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 medium overripe bananas (about 500 grams of bananas weighed without peel)
  • 3/4 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • Sprinkle of chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a muffin tin with silicone baking cups or spray really well with cooking spray. Alternatively, you can line an 8x8 square baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Puree the bananas in a food processor until smooth. Add the peanut butter and cocoa powder and process until well combined.
  • Evenly distribute the mixture among 12 cups in the muffin tin or pour it into a lined baking pan. Sprinkle the surface of the brownies with chocolate chips if desired.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges and the top are slightly firm and the brownies are well risen. Allow the brownies to fully cool before removing from the pan. Serve warm or store for later.

Notes

  • These brownies are not overly sweet since they’re only sweetened with bananas. Taste a bit of batter before baking and adjust the sweetness as needed.
  • If you prefer your brownies on the sweeter side, you can add a few tablespoons of coconut sugar, brown sugar or maple syrup to the batter, or additional chocolate chips. You can also top them with this naturally sweetened frosting which will add some nice sweetness as well!
  • These brownies are not like your typical brownie as they don’t have that same cake-light consistency. They’re more soft, moist and fudgy and have a chocolate banana flavor. If you don’t like bananas, you probably won’t be a fan of these brownies.
  • Allow the brownies to fully cool before removing them from the muffin/baking pan. They’ll seem soft when they first come out of the oven but will firm up more as they cool.
  • You may wish to add a pinch of salt, vanilla extract and half a teaspoon of baking powder for some extra flavor.
