This category is really the heart of this whole website! I’m passionate about nourishing kids to help them become healthy eaters, but as a mom myself, I know exactly how hard that is.
Especially before school or daycare, it’s so tempting to throw a bunch of prepackaged items into their bag and send them on their way!
There are so many easy healthy lunches for kids and it’s my goal to make it easy for you to pack a healthy, nourishing lunch every day (without draining yourself).
What’s the secret? Make ahead meals.
If you try to pack a different lunch every day of the week, you’re going to waste precious time and energy slicing grapes or making sandwiches. It’s much more efficient to meal prep your kids’ lunches.
Choose 1 or 2 main entrees to serve during the week. It can be helpful to have two choices to break things up, especially if your little one is still reluctant to eat homemade lunches at school.
Prep those entrees and the side dishes on the weekend. You can chop a bunch of veggies and slice a bunch of fruits at once and then either portion them into little containers or just pour them into your child’s lunch box each morning.
Once you get in a rhythm, you can start batch cooking their snacks and treats. You can bake a double batch of these 3-ingredient applesauce cookies, then freeze them for later. Put a frozen cookie directly in their lunch bag in the morning and it will be thawed by lunch!
To help you get started, I’ve compiled this list of healthy cold lunchbox ideas for kids featuring some of my favorite kid-friendly lunches, like these delicious homemade pizza rolls.
Make a big batch of this fiestada pizza for a delicious Tex-Mex meal your kids will love! My little ones also love this pesto-based 4-ingredient pasta salad, which is loaded with flavor!

I get it. Feeding kids can be tough.
I’ve learned that the key to getting kids to try new foods is to keep it fresh and exciting, get them involved, and inject a little enthusiasm and creativity into how you serve them up. Above all else, don’t give up. If you’re serving balanced meals and snacks throughout the day, then you’re doing a good job!
