Snacks

Ditch the store-bought, overly processed snacks and make your own healthy snacks for kids! This is one of my favorite types of recipes to develop because I can see firsthand how much my kids love them and as a dietitian, I know theyโ€™re so much better than the prepackaged treats!

On this site, youโ€™ll see a variety of homemade snacks for kids. Some are simple like this strawberry banana smoothie for kids or homemade unsweetened applesauce.

Other recipes are a fantastic way to reduce your reliance on storebought snacks, like these cheesy sweet potato crackers or homemade pizza rolls.

Some of my favorite recipes are for energy balls or snack cakes. These are great to serve with breakfast or lunch or to offer as a quick snack between meals. I often try to keep these really simple, like theseย 3-ingredient cookies or 3-ingredient banana oatmeal bars.

Trying to entice your little one to eat more greens? These green monster muffins are packed full of spinach yet taste just like regular muffins!

Even better, many of these recipes can be made in advance then frozen for later! I love to make a batch of these 3-ingredient peanut butter energy balls, which makes 16 servings, then freeze the rest for later.ย

By working ahead and using simple, nutritious recipes, youโ€™ll find itโ€™s so much easier to offer your kids healthy homemade snacks than ever before!

To help you get started, I I have an ebook with 40 make ahead snacks called Healthy Little Bites! Each recipe was formulated by me, a registered dietitian and mother of two, to make it easy to have healthy snacks on hand all the time.ย

Itโ€™s perfect for busy parents who want to work ahead and stock their fridge or freezer with healthy treats their kids will truly love!

My Feeding Philosophy

I get it. Feeding kids can be tough.
I’ve learned that the key to getting kids to try new foods is to keep it fresh and exciting, get them involved, and inject a little enthusiasm and creativity into how you serve them up. Above all else, don’t give up. If you’re serving balanced meals and snacks throughout the day, then you’re doing a good job!
