Greek Yogurt Fruit Bites

I love creating healthy snacks that taste like dessert but are actually good for you! These frozen Greek yogurt bites are naturally sweet from the berries, with plenty of creaminess and protein from the yogurt and the healthy fats and fiber from the granola.

They’re the perfect snack for after school or a nice after-dinner dessert, but they’re nutritious enough to serve with breakfast too. The whole family will love them!

Ingredient Notes

Individually portioned ingredients for the frozen Greek yogurt bites.
  • Granola: Use either homemade or storebought granola. Any type will work!
  • Greek vanilla yogurt: I recommend looking for a lower sugar yogurt.
  • Mixed berries: Chop the berries into small bites to make them easy to eat.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Line a 12-cup regular-sized muffin pan with 12 silicone baking cups or muffin liners.
  2. Add about 2 teaspoons of granola into the bottom of each cup. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, add 3/4 cup of the berries and mash them with the back of a fork or potato masher. Fold in 1 1/4 cups yogurt until combined with the mashed berries.
  4. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the fruit and yogurt mixture into each cup. Smooth the surface with a spatula and then tap the pan on the counter to smooth out the layers.
  5. Sprinkle additional granola on the yogurt mixture, about 1 teaspoon.
  6. Press remaining berries into the top of each yogurt cup, using a few per cup.
  7. Place the pan in the freezer and chill until firm, about 2-4 hours.
  8. Pop each yogurt and granola cup out of the mold. Allow to sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes to soften slightly. Enjoy!

RECIPE TIPS

  • You can make your own granola (we love this almond butter granola) or look for a lower sugar store-bought granola. Smaller pieces of granola work best for these bites rather than larger chunks.
  • Look for a lower sugar vanilla Greek yogurt. We used the Two Good Danone Vanilla Greek yogurt for this recipe. Alternatively, you can use plain Greek yogurt and sweeten it with a bit of honey or maple syrup and splash of vanilla extract.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use frozen berries for these bites?

Yes! You’ll want to partially thaw the berries to make them easier to mash and incorporate with the yogurt.

How long do frozen yogurt bites last?

These easy frozen yogurt bites will last for several months in the freezer. For the best results, transfer them from the muffin pan and store them in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag.

Can you make frozen yogurt bites with other fruits?

Yes! Fresh berries are ideal because of their size and flavor, but you can really use a variety of fruits. It’s best to use naturally soft fruits, like mangos, peaches, cherries, kiwis, etc. Just be sure to remove any pits (of course) and cut them into small bite-sized pieces.

Storage Guidelines

  • Store the leftover bites in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.

Serving Suggestions

Really, these berry yogurt bites are like a mini yogurt parfait and can be served at breakfast or brunch! I usually like to serve them as a nice summer snack on those hot summer days. They’re also delicious topped with:

  • Extra fresh fruit or berries
  • A drizzle of peanut butter or almond butter
  • Sprinkle of coconut
  • Sprinkle of hemp hearts

Recipe Variations

  • Make them dairy-free: Use dairy-free yogurt like coconut yogurt.
  • Try different fruits: Many fruits would do well in this dish. Try using fresh mango, banana, cherries, etc.
  • Add chocolate: Chocolate and fruit are a match made in heaven! Either add mini dark chocolate chips to the bites or melt some chips in a microwave-safe bowl and stir in a small amount of coconut oil. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the yogurt bites and watch it firm up instantly.
  • Make yogurt bark: Instead of making frozen yogurt cups, line a sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone mat and spread the yogurt and berries in an even layer. Sprinkle with granola, then freeze solid and break into pieces for a fun handheld snack.
  • Add peanut butter: For extra healthy fats, stir 1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter into the yogurt mixture for peanut butter Greek yogurt bites!
