If you need an adorable snack or appetizer for the kids this holiday season, you'll love this Banana Snowman Snack! Made with fresh fruits and veggies (and a few mini chocolate chips), they're the perfect healthy snack for your next holiday party or to pack in your kid's lunchbox!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium bananas, cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • 5 small strawberries, stems cut off
  • 2 green grapes, cut in half
  • 1 baby carrot stick cut into small triangle slivers
  • 1/2 tablespoon mini chocolate chips
  • Skewers or popsicle sticks

Instructions

  • Slice the bananas into slices that are ½-inch thick. Slice the green stem off the strawberries so that the bottom is flat.
  • Carefully, poke a skewer through three banana slices so that the round slices are facing upwards. Then create the snowman hat by poking on a strawberry with the pointy part pointing upwards.  Next, slide on half a grape with the flat side facing downwards.
  • Poke the mini chocolate chips into the top banana slice for eyes and 2-3 chocolate chips into the second banana slice for buttons. Gently poke a thin carrot triangle underneath the eyes.

Notes

  • Make sure that you cut the banana slices thick enough or they'll split in half when you try to slide them onto the skewers. It's best to use the slices in the middle of the banana since they're typically the largest.
  • You might want to keep some extra bananas on hand in case any of the banana slices break when skewering them.
  • Avoid using an overly ripe banana for this recipe since you need the banana slices to be a bit firmer in order to stay on the stick and not be too mushy when handled.
  • If serving these banana snowmen to small children, watch them carefully if they're eating from a skewer. Alternatively, you can skip the skewer and just build the banana snowman on a plate.
