Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for the Easter bunny snack board.
  • Baby bel cheese rounds: You can use other cheeses, but you need small rounds to make the bunny shape.
  • Yogurt melts: I used the strawberry banana Gerber brand.
  • Crackers: I used a mixture of large and smaller Breton crackers to make the chick cheese slices and fruit flowers, but feel free to sub in your favorite crackers.
  • Peanut butter: Look for natural peanut butter with no added sugar or salt.
  • Green grapes: Slice these in halves or quarters.
  • Raspberries
  • Mozzarella cheese slice: Trim the slices with a small chick cookie cutter, or use another shape. Little bunnies would be cute too!
  • Popcorn: Feel free to make your own or purchase storebought popcorn. Avoid serving popcorn to children under the age of 5.
  • Annie’s cheddar bunnies: The bunnies fit the theme perfectly!
  • English cucumbers: Cut these into thin slices, then press with the flower cookie cutter.
  • Baby carrots
  • Snap peas
  • Blueberries
  • Mini chocolate eggs (optional): Feel free to add a little bit of your kid’s favorite Easter candy for some added color and a sweet treat.

Required Supplies

  • Wooden board or serving tray
  • Cookie cutters: Choose any seasonal cookie cutters you think your kids will enjoy, like a circle, chick, flower, heart, bunny-shaped cookie cutter, etc.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Make the Cheese Bunny

  1. Start by making the cheese bunny. Using a circular cookie cutter, cut off one end of a baby bel cheese round. Next, with the same circular cookie cutter, cut off the other end of the baby bel cheese round. The pieces of cheese should resemble bunny ears.
  2. Using a mini heart cookie cutter, cut a heart out of another baby bel cheese round. Cut the heart in half from top to bottom so that you have two hearts. These will be the bunny’s feet.
  3. In the center of the board or tray, add a baby bel cheese round for the bunny’s body. Place one right above for the bunny’s head. Place the two cheese “ears” on top of the head so that it looks like a bunny’s head. Next, place the two hearts upside down under the bottom cheese round to form the bunny’s feet. Place a yogurt melt in the center of the bottom cheese round to form the bunny’s tail. Once finished, it should resemble the shape of a bunny.

Step 2: Cut out Shapes & Assemble Board

  1. Next, make the flower crackers by spreading a thin layer of peanut butter (or cream cheese) over each of the large circular crackers. Arrange the green grape halves in a circle around the outer edge of the crackers. Place a raspberry into the center. Arrange the flower crackers around the board.
  2. Next, cut out small chicks or bunnies out of the slice of mozzarella cheese. Place them on top of the other small circular crackers. Arrange on the board.
  3. Add a couple of small bowls of popcorn and Annie’s cheddar bunnies to the board.
  4. Take a small flower cookie cutter, and cut flowers from the cucumber slices.
  5. Fill in the gaps around the cheese bunny with cucumber flowers, baby carrots, snap peas, raspberries and blueberries. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Optional: You can also scatter a few chocolate eggs around for added interest and color as well.

RECIPE TIPS

  • This Easter snack board is best served immediately since the cheese will start to dry out if sitting for too long. If you’d like to make it ahead of time, you can assemble most of it and then add the cheese right before serving.
  • The quantities provided are just rough estimates. You can adjust how many snacks you add depending on the size of your tray or platter.

Recipe FAQs

Can you make an Easter bunny cheese board in advance?

Yes, but it’s best served fresh. This is a low-prep snack board, and some items, like the carrots and peas, can be added directly from the bag. Same for the popcorn and cheese crackers! Slicing the cheese and cucumber slices into flowers and chicks takes just a few seconds, but you could make these the day before and then store them in a ziploc bag in the fridge until you need them. It’s pretty quick!

What are the best Easter snack ideas for kids?

Since we know our kids will be eating lots of chocolate and jelly beans all Easter weekend, I like to include as many healthier snacks as possible! Try to serve fresh fruits, vegetables, and fiber-rich snacks when you can.

This fun charcuterie board has lots of fresh veggies, berries, and grapes, as well as whole-grain crackers and popcorn. These all offer fiber to fill their tummies, and the cheeses and peanut butter will also offer protein as well. These Easter bunny fruit kabobs are a great option, as well!

What should go on an Easter snack board for kids?

There are so many fun ideas you can try! For my Easter snack boards, I like to start with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Serve your child’s favorite fruits to make sure the board is really tempting and enticing!

Offset the produce with some crunchy options, like cheese crackers, whole grain crackers, popcorn, and more. When possible, add a really appealing centerpiece, like a cheese bunny! It can really help to shape ordinary foods into something more exciting. I always keep an arsenal of cookie cutters on hand for exactly this purpose!

Storage Guidelines

  • This Easter board can sit out at room temperature for up to 2 hours, although the popcorn and crackers can be left out for longer. The cheese may start to dry out if sitting out for too long, so it’s best consumed fresh.

Serving Suggestions

If you’re creating a snack bar for your Easter celebration, feel free to pair this snack board with some of these sweet treats and snacks.

Recipe Variations

  • Switch up the produce: Feel free to use any seasonal fruits or vegetables. Add some fruits and veggies your kids will want to eat, while sprinkling in a few new ones too!
  • Offer a dip: If your little ones are picky about eating vegetables on their own, add some homemade hummus (like this high protein hummus) or ranch dressing for dipping.
  • Make it larger: This is a smaller snack board, perfect for a small group. If you want to make an even larger board for your next Easter party, feel free to add more, like chocolate-covered strawberries, cheddar cheese cubes, Easter cookies, hard-boiled eggs, black olives, and more.
  • Adjust the snacks: I intentionally like to keep this board low in sugar since I know my kids will enjoy some chocolate bunnies and other sweet treats later. However, you can easily make it an Easter dessert board! Add more sliced fruits and this creamy 4 ingredient peanut butter dip. Add in some graham crackers, your favorite trail mix, or a sprinkle of chocolate chips. It’d be delicious with some hot cocoa! This would be great to serve after Easter dinner as a special dessert.
