These colorful fruit Easter eggs are the perfect dessert for your Easter meal! Each of the Easter fruit pizza cookies is made with a healthier sugar cookie base naturally sweetened with maple syrup. Then, they’re topped with a delicious cream cheese frosting, and your kid’s favorite fruits arranged to look like Easter eggs. They’re perfect for Easter brunch or a healthier holiday dessert!

In our house, we love fruit pizza! The combination of sweet sugar cookie dough with the tangy cream cheese filling and fresh fruit is always delicious. Plus, the colorful fresh fruits look like little jewels on top!
These homemade Easter fruit pizza cookies provide a healthier spin for families looking for a more nutritious and lower sugar option. They’re prepared with my favorite sugar cookie dough, which is made with almond flour for a dose of healthy fats.
I also like to add a little yogurt to the cream cheese frosting to make it a little lower in fat and higher in protein. They’re such a fun treat for kids!

Ingredient Notes
For the Cookies
- Almond flour: Use regular blanched almond flour for the lightest texture and flavor.
- Salt: A pinch of salt helps incorporate a bit of extra flavor into the dough.
- Maple syrup: This will add a little sweetness to balance the fruits.
- Coconut oil: Use this instead of butter in the sugar cookie dough. Make sure it is softened at room temperature.
- Warm water
- Vanilla extract: For a little extra flavor.
For the Fruit Pizza Frosting
- Light cream cheese: Use lower fat cream cheese softened at room temperature.
- Greek yogurt: Plain Greek yogurt will make the fruit pizza frosting even creamier, but with less fat and more protein.
- Maple syrup: Sweeten to taste. Honey can also work for kids older than 2 years of age.
- Vanilla extract
- Lemon juice: For a pop of zesty flavor.
For Decorating
- Assorted fruits: Choose a variety of fresh fruit in different colors. Cut the larger ones into small pieces to decorate the cookies.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Homemade Cookie Dough
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add the almond flour and salt to a large bowl and mix to combine, breaking up any clumps of almond flour.
- Next, mix the maple syrup, coconut oil, water and vanilla in a small bowl until combined, smoothing out any clumps of coconut oil with the back of the spoon.
- Add wet ingredients to the almond flour mixture and mix until combined. The mixture will seem crumbly, but it should stick together when you press it together with two fingers.
Step 2: Cut out the Easter Egg Cookies & Bake
- Roll the mixture into a ball and place in between two pieces of wax or parchment paper. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough so that it’s roughly 9mm thick.
- Use an easter egg shaped cookie cutter, press into the cookie dough. Place each cookie on the parchment-lined baking sheet about an inch apart. Repeat, collecting the excess dough and rolling it into a ball and rolling it flat to press more cookies until all the dough is used up.
- Bake the cookies for 14-16 minutes or until the bottom and top edges of the cookies are very lightly golden brown (watch them very carefully). Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet for 10-15 minutes, as this is the time when they’ll firm up.
Step 3: Prepare the Frosting & Toppings
- While the cookies are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting. Add the cream cheese, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla and lemon juice to a mixing bowl. Using a handheld electric mixer, beat the mixture together until combined and fluffy.
- Cut up desired fruit for decorating.
Step 4: Decorate the Mini Fruit Pizzas
- When the cookies have cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting in a thick layer evenly over each Easter egg.
- Decorate with desired fruit. Serve or store in the fridge for later.

It’s a good idea to use softer fruits that are easy to bite on each individual fruit pizza. For example, apples have a firm, crisp texture, which can be hard for kids to bite through in addition to the sugar cookie base.
Fresh berries, like fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, are perfect. I also like to add sliced kiwis, mandarin oranges, pineapple, and more. Be sure to use a variety of fruit to decorate the egg cookies like a real Easter egg!
Technically you can freeze the cookies, but I don’t recommend freezing the frosting or cut fruit. The cookies will need to be wrapped in several layers of plastic wrap or tucked into a freezer-safe container.
The frosting can potentially be frozen and thawed, but that often causes dairy products to split and become watery. It’s best to make a fresh batch of frosting with cream cheese and yogurt as needed!
The easiest solution is to use a cookie cutter to cut the homemade cookie dough into the shape of an egg, although other shapes like a flower or bunny would work as well! Bake them following the recipe directions and allow them to cool all the way to room temperature before frosting and decorating. It’s really that simple!
Storage Guidelines
